Monitor setup via hotkeys

Open MikeEllis-T67M opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

Description of the new feature / enhancement

With a multi-monitor setup, it is often useful to rotate one monitor into portrait mode for a specific task and then switch it back afterwards. Would it be possible to configure a number of monitor layouts which can be selected quickly using custom hotkeys?

Scenario when this would be used?

Reading documentation designed for printing on A4/letter paper is often easier on a portrait display, whilst most other tasks (coding etc) are easier on landscape displays.

@MikeEllis-T67M FYI you can accomplish this with UltraMon. Isn't the most user-friendly but it works.

Also Ctrl+Win+Shift+B if you need to restart graphic driver (as frequently needed regardless of how you change it in Win10+).

Important: This option may only work with some graphics cards. If it's not working for you, then use the Settings app option.

  • Ctrl + Alt + Up arrow – rotates to landscape mode.
  • Ctrl + Alt + Down arrow – rotates the screen upside down.
  • Ctrl + Alt + Right arrow – rotates the screen 90 degrees (right).
  • Ctrl + Alt + Left arrow – rotates the screen 90 degrees (left).

These keyboard shortcuts are gpu driver specific not windows built in

We've recently added the workspaces utility to allow you to launch monitor-specific layouts - does this solve your need? /needinfo

No, workspaces does not account for monitor resolution and orientation which is the crux of this request
