FancyZones used to remember the layout for different screen resolutions, now it keeps the same when changing resolution.

Area(s) with issue?

FancyZones

Steps to reproduce

  1. Set Layout A for resolution 1
  2. Change resolution
  3. Set Layout B for resolution 2
  4. Change back to resolution 1
  5. Still shows Layout B

✔️ Expected Behavior

I have a monitor that I change the resolution twice a day. On one resolution I have higher resolution with 8 zones and another, lower resolution with 4 zones.

Before the last update, when I changed resolutions, FZ would remember if it's 8 or 4. Now it keeps what I had before changing resolution, i.e., if i was on the higher resolution with 8 zones and change to the smaller one, i still have 8 zones

  1. Set Layout A for resolution 1
  2. Change resolution
  3. Set Layout B for resolution 2
  4. Change back to resolution 1
  5. Expect to see Layout A

❌ Actual Behavior

  1. Set Layout A for resolution 1
  2. Change resolution
  3. Set Layout B for resolution 2
  4. Change back to resolution 1
  5. Still see Layout B

I can't reproduce this. FancyZones works as you described in Expected Behavior for me. Can you post /bugreport? Thanks /needinfo

Attached is the bug report. I reproduced the issue just before creating the bug report to make sure it still happens. PowerToysReport_2022-02-17-07-09-49.zip

When resolution changes, FanzyZones did not remember the layout, however, I set up a custom zone in resolution A, and this made both resolutions remember their layouts.

Hi friends! This bug is relatively old. In an effort to clear out any stale bugs, could you please let us know if this bug is still showing up on any of the latest builds, 0.74 or up!

This is still happening, but the workaround I have is to have shortcuts to set the fancy zone arrangement I want when my resolution changes.

I have attached the zip file generated for a bug. I just updated and restarted, the version is 0.74.1.

@stefansjfw - is the zip above helpful for understanding the underlying issue for the bug?
