Officially support Oculus Link for our Oculus Quest story.

Describe the problem

Many developers use the Oculus Link functionality when testing their project with Oculus Quest, however we do not currently have instructions or formal support for this deployment path. This pathway is very useful to developers, as it allows them to test their application in editor.

Describe the solution you'd like

Formal support and documentation for deploying via Oculus Link.

Hi, is there any update on official support for Oculus link? We are working on a project for Microsoft Hololens using MRTK and we also want to develop the same project for PCVR using MRTK as it will be much easier for us to also use MRTK for the VR app.

I believe MRTK should work with Oculus Link when using the Open XR pipeline! Your mileage may vary when using the Oculus pipeline with the Oculus Integration Asset Store Package though.

@RogPodge thanks for the reply. Is it also possible to use Hand tracking only without using oculus controllers?

I think you need to change some settings inside the oculus native interface:

https://forevrgames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4416828590093-Oculus-Hand-Tracking-Basics#:~:text=Select%20the%20toggle%20next%20to%20Hand%20Tracking%20to,put%20your%20controllers%20down%20or%20pick%20them%20up.

This should help

Marking as done as we've tested and found it working with Open XR.

We appreciate your feedback and thank you for reporting this issue.

Microsoft Mixed Reality Toolkit version 2 (MRTK2) is currently in limited support. This means that Microsoft is only fixing high priority issues. Unfortunately, this issue does not meet the necessary priority and will be closed. If you strongly feel that this issue deserves more attention, please open a new issue and explain why it is important.

Microsoft recommends that all new HoloLens 2 Unity applications use MRTK3 instead of MRTK2.

Please note that MRTK3 was released in August 2023. It features an all-new architecture for developing rich mixed reality experiences and has a minimum requirement of Unity 2021.3 LTS. For more information about MRTK3, please visit https://www.mixedrealitytoolkit.org.

Thank you for your continued support of the Mixed Reality Toolkit!
