Question : Clarification on M365 DSC modules compatibility with DSC 2.x/3.x

Looking for some clarification on future of M365DSC considering PS DSC 2.x/3.x being released. Can we still use same M365DSc module (1.x version) support , if we upgrade to PS 7.x and install PSDesiredStateConfiguration 2.x module ? As per documentation that latest DSC 2.x / 3.x will use json file as desired state, instead of .MOF File. Looking towards getting rid of .MOF and LCM in order to make pipelines more stable to run on containers. Current process, needed a MOF file to stay on a VM. But we want to run dsc configurations on a docker containers and destroy when pipeline is finished. Please provide us some guidance - should we continue use M365DSc on DSC 1.x or migrate to DSC 2.x ?
