microg
MicroG cloud messaging received message but push notification not work.
cloud messaging shows received message but telegram and gmail no push notification.start app on push message is enabled. self check options all checked.
System Android Version: 13 Custom ROM: YAAP
Additional context telegram and gmail push notification not work, both app are battery unrestricted.
Anyone?... Anyone? ... Bueller?... Bueller? This has been a problem for years. Telegram push notifications do not work with microg. I have tried different versions of LineageOS, /e/OS, and currently using CalyxOS. Have tried on Galaxy S5, LG-V20 and Pixel 4a5G. Have tried Google Play version of Telegram as well as the apk straight from the Telegram website. Telegram "keep alive in background" setting is toggled on. Battery is unrestricted and Telegram is registered with Cloud Messanging. Even tried setting notification priority to "urgent." Nothing works. Have wondered if maybe this has something to do with LineageOS (/e/OS and CalyxOS are both Lineage based roms). Anyone having this problem with a non-Lineage based rom?
Yeah, this doesn't work in any way like mentioned: microG receives the push messages (they're logged) but Telegram does not wake up and react at all (or like 1 out of 10 times), it's just quiet.

I tried on an old phone with the regular Play Services and the Telegram notifications work flawlessly, they're instant. It's still on its stock rom though: I can't say 100% if this is a Lineage or a microG issue, one should try Lineage + GAPPS to find out.

Ok, I tried with Lineage + Gapps on yet another phone: it works beautifully. This is similar to #338 #494 #1188 : while those tickets were closed as solved, Telegram is still an issue.
@ale5000-git Do you have any clues about this? System logs don't show anything wrong nor anything different between the times notifications come in and the times they don't. Plus, if you force-close Telegram after each message, it will work and wake up and refresh all the app contents, but since then it remains idle and quiet and won't notify anymore unless force-closed again.
@mar-v-in By any chance, can you reproduce it?
Currently I don't have my main pc working so I can't do many tests and I have many things in my queue. I will probably be back on track in about 1 month.
I'm having the same issue and I am glad that @ale5000-git will look into this!
As a workaround until then: the telegram FOSS app on f-droid works much better, as it does not rely on push messages from google.

Or you can use the new Mercurygram with UnifiedPush support (here and on F-Droid too) which works great and by choosing UP-FCM as distributor you can receive all the notifications through microG without having to configure anything, just like Telegram + GAPPS.
