Theory on how to make microG work on huawei.

Open Wandstick opened this issue 3 years ago • 5 comments

Yo, I think I found the solution for huawei users to be able to use microG. So basically I was playing around after enabling device profile and I installed Gmail, now Gmail allowed you to login with Microsoft yahoo Google etc. I then tried using Microsoft account and it actually worked, so my assumption is that if someone takes microG and just remove the sign in feature, everything will work for use poor huawei users. Note: if you want to do this please keep the device profile feature ONLY REMOVE THE SIGN IN WITH MICROG FEATURE.

Just don't sign-in with Google, it won't make any difference. It is obvious that microG isn't used for non-Google accounts.

What I meant is to make microG work on playstore, YouTube, and all the other apps that only give you the option to sign in with a Google account. This post was made as a suggestion to make a separate version of microg.

Another way to go about it is to do it the way the vanced team did with youtube vanced. Fork vanced microG (which has actually been kind of done already) and modify the entire whole (or at least those that are worth the effort) suite of Google apps to detect accounts added through the microG fork. However this might be a lot of work implement and maintain and could easily be opposed by Google.

@Joe-TheKing As I have already said in another ticket there isn't any need to change microG because the check is in the app itself, you just need to patch the Google apps (but also all other apps) to ignore signature. It isn't even hard. It is explained here: https://github.com/microg/GmsCore/issues/414#issuecomment-325027874
