[Feature Request] Save settings locally
Thanks very much for putting together a Windows version, just had a minor request about settings and portability ...
Current behavior: writes to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ghostwriter\ghostwriter.ini
Requested behavior: Write to the local folder (same place as ghostwriter.exe) or via a launch argument (e.g. ghostwriter.exe -config .
Use case: Ease of backup, use from a thumb drive, running from a cloud drive, run more than one instance with different setups (e.g. do one project in light mode, the other with the dark theme so you don't get confused).
Hi!
Having been on this repository for more than 1 year I know that Michel Olvera only "recreates" Windows code based on Wereturtle's GNU/Linux code. He is not going to program new features nor anything that is not already present in Ghostwriter for Linux.
According to the Contributing Guide of wereturtle, he wrote:
At this present time, I do not have the bandwidth to work on new feature requests. As such, new feature requests filed in GitHub will be closed. This does not mean ghostwriter will cease to have new features. On the contrary! ghostwriter has quite the backlog of feature requests already filed in GitHub.
Sorry @vatterspun 😅
IMHO, this isn't in fact a new feature request, as '%APPDATA%' locations don't really exist in Linux filesystems, more of an Windows usability adaption that would prove immensely valuable for locked down Windows environments.
I thought this needed clarifying.
Reading the description again, you may be right! I wonder how the GNU/Linux version saves the settings but this "Feature Request" is not in the wrong place.
Keep it open, we'll see what @michelolvera thinks about it. 😊
