fyi: extensions.gnome.org now supports donate buttons for extensions. You can add a section like this to the metadata.json and you get a button/dropdown like this. Supported keys are buymeacoffee, github, kofi, patreon and paypal with the respective usernames or custom with a full URL either as a single value or as an array. Feel free to spread the word to other extension maintainers.

I think the main issue with dash-to-dock is that there are not enough developers (no full time developers) to donate to. So I'm not sure a donate button would be helpful. @micheleg ?
