Dash to the left causing Gnome's search bar not displaying correctly on Fedora 35/Gnome 41.1 (Wayland)

It shows like this when the extension is on the left: image

It doesn´t happen when the dock is on the right or at the bottom. image

Mh, I can't reproduce it here, maybe do you have other extensions that are playing with that shell code as well?

However, there's some code in docking.js that acts on St.Side.LEFT only case (check both _getFirstFitAllWorkspaceBox and maybeAdjustBoxToDock), see if commenting it out may help for the case.

@3v1n0 I can reproduce this issue. It seems that this only occurs when the dock is docked on the left. Leaving some screenshots for reference. I've had this issue for over 1 year now, but not sure why it happens. Re-installing the distro fixes the issue (have had manjaro with gnome for over 3 years) and this issue re-occurs about 6 months after installing the distro. Disabling this extension seems to fix the issue.

I'll try to play with the suggested settings to see if it could somehow fix the issue.

I have this issue when I have the dock on the left and I have "Hide Top Bar" enabled https://github.com/tuxor1337/hidetopbar If I disable either of these 2 extensions, the search box goes back to normal.

same issue for me too. fully updated EndeavourOS, same behavior with either X11 or wayland. as Deskbot described, disabling the "Hide Top Bar" extension returns the search bar to normal, but then the top bar doesn't hide :(

there was previously some combination of settings between this extension and the "Hide Top Bar" extension that also made things work, but after the latest round of gnome updates, that combination did not work for me anymore.

current work around is to just live w/ the dock on the right side of the screen

Just wanted to comment that this issue has gone away for me. not sure exactly when it was fixed, but its not happening anymore on my PC.
