Remove item from "my shows/movies" and don't add it back to Trakt if it was removed

Open rfgamaral opened this issue 2 years ago • 4 comments

Sometimes I use the Trakt.tv website instead of Showly, and remove an item from my watchlist. However, Showly syncs the removed item back to the watchlist. I think Showly should be smarter, figure out if an item was removed from Trakt.tv, and remove it from "my shows/movies" instead of adding it back to Trakt.tv. What do you think?

@rfgamaral Hi.

When you have an item in you Watchlist in Showly and run import from Trakt and this item is not present in the list received from Trakt, the app has no way of knowing if this item has actually been removed by you in Trakt or it was never there and you just have the item added in Showly.

I understand that's the current behaviour, that's why I'm making this feature request :)

I'm sure there's some logic we could apply to make this work.

hi @michaldrabik - i am the commenter from a recent google play review for showly that mentioned "wonky".

the "wonky" comment is related to a similar behavior as this issue.

my use is mostly via using Showly on two different android devices (phone and tablet). if i remove a Movie from my "Watchlist" on one device and sync with trakt.tv then check my other device after a sync and that same movie is back on my watchlist.

for custom lists, if i remove an item from the list on one device and sync with trakt.tv - it is gone from trakt.tv. however, checking on the other device after a sync and the item is still in the custom list. subsequent syncs do not appear to re-add it to trakt.tv.

my main working plan is to use trakt.tv as the repository of all lists/content progress and Showly as my main interface for ongoing progress. however, it appears my devices and trakt.tv will diverge over time and managing that will become tedious. my previous process was even more tedious though so this isn't killing my joy of using Showly so far.

it seems the Showly sync process could keep some state about whether individual items have been synced with trakt.tv in the past and compare it against new lists received from trakt.tv so see what is "new" vs "changed".

otherwise, i'm really enjoying showly - the TV side works amazingly well.
