My observation is that the networking traffic while using CVAT is very jumpy. I suspect that this is due to the next chunk being loaded only when the last chunk...
Would +1 for this feature, especially with integration of SAM2.
I'd also add that mask and polygons are both important for video object segmentation. Maybe mask being even more important/relevant considering integration with SAM2 would hugely accelerate the annotation process.

@simonvez Maybe try libcamera-still. raspistill can't support the newest pi camera, so they're moving on to libcamera.
