A few questions about this bot/method

Open shanehull opened this issue 7 years ago • 10 comments

Hi,

I tried this bot out the other day and couldn't get it to make any trades. I tried default settings, more aggressive settings as well as less aggressive settings, but didn't let it run too long (an hour max).

I did only transfer 1XMR to the account I gave it access to, as I just wanted to see how it worked and understand the method of trading it uses more than anything.

Does this bot/method require a high starting balance to be able to trade and be worthwhile? Or can you let it run with a low balance such as 1XMR and eventually see some results?

It would also be good to get a rough idea of what sort of return it is capable of, understanding that it could highly vary.

I think same issue than here: https://github.com/michaelgrosner/tribeca/issues/145

@Camille92 it is possibly an actual bug, yeah.

Do you have any idea about ideal wallet balances? Or if the bot requires a certain balance, or a 50/50 balance of either currency? Or will it initiate an order to balance it out before starting?

Hi, the bot doesn't require any specific balance by default. You should try ctubio https://github.com/ctubio/Krypto-trading-bot/, the same bot but with improved functionalities. It works perfectly with Bitfinex. Best,

Camille

Thanks @Camille92. I was looking at that one. I'll give it a shot!

Do you have any first hand experience on returns from either bot? I'll run my own testing, but it would be good to know what to expect.

Hey, I've been running this bot for nearly a year now and I have returns between 20% and 250% a month.

Of course, this depends on (by order or importance): Your settings The evolution of the underlying currencies The fees you pay The size of your stack

So it depends on a lot on how you set the bot. It's not (and there is no) "magical money maker", you need to do some trying and put some thought to see what's the best for you.

Also, ctubio is very active to develop it and we always try to come with better strategies /options.

Great, thanks for all the info, you've been super helpful!

No problem, don't hesitate to come back if you have an idea or issue and tip the developpers if you can :)

Will do!

@Camille92 thanks for sharing experience - returns seem quite high, work in up/down trends similarly? Plan to test ride it/bring some devs along (come from fintech but not dev myself), any plans to support other exchanges? Thanks

I gave the bot a try and I think it does have huge potential, but being in Australia I wasn't able to trade against fiat on any of the supported exchanges. The spread between cryptos and BTC is barely anything and just not worth it. I'd love to be able to integrate an exchange like ACX myself, but I wouldn't know where to start.
