[1.10.2] Landing baloons unbreakable and inaccessible

When landing on Mars the landing baloons got stuck in mid air. Also the inventory was unaccessible and the balloons remain unbreakable. It cannot be destroyed by any regular means - no tool, no explosions. It seems to be not a seldom event because we had several rocket launches to Mars and this is the first time happening.
Is there anything on this? It just happened to me as well, It was the second trip to Mars, this time to have it build the station and upon landing the landing balloons won't break and are unaccessible.
Can you please provide a mod list and versions you are running? Also do you have some/any log files you can post? Thanks

Last time it was game crash at the moment of landing on Mars. After game restart I was separated from Mars lander and its inventory became unaccessible.
oh I see, it didn't finish the landing sequence so it hasn't actually landed.
The game crash, is that a GC crash and is it reported? If it's us, let's fix that first.
This crash is already fixed
I think I reproduced this bug. Player may leave landing ballons if he press attack key (left mouse button by defauls) after ballons touches Mars surface for the first time. In a short time player returns into lander. If after that player again press attack button, he completely leave landing ballons and they become unbreakable (in Survival mode, in Creative you may break them) and unaccessible

I can't repro this per se (3 attempts w/server restart after 2nd attempt, same result each time); I kept punching and did get "popped out" of the lander/balloons, However I wasn't really out of it, if I change view or try to move around I returned to the lander, continue to punch and was actually ejected (by this time the balloons were/are almost done bouncing, 2nd or 3rd bounce). You can't access the inventory, but if I continued to punch it and it did break and it dropped the rocket and landing pad.

Stopping lander being damaged/left click hit and making sure shift isnt possible before its finished its landing stage on both client and server should solve any issues that is there.
The bug is probably desync of the server and client and one thinking your out the lander and one that thinks your inside it

you should be able to break the balloons by punching or with a pick ax, that should drop you launch pad and rocket on the ground, but you will lose the fuel that was in it.
Unable to punch or break the balloons. Even abandoned the planet, to only go back and still unable to access the first attempt.
Thanks @uglyduck2k4 the video is very helpful. Two separate issues here we need to fix:
- it should be impossible to Shift exit Landing Balloons before they have landed (we don't want people falling to their death!)
- if somehow you have exited the Landing Balloons before landing normally (and maybe another mod can be involved somehow) then we need to give you access to them
This was in the new release of SevTech Mod Pack. Believed i used the "Shift" key to sneak to go slow / dismount, which ejected me and had me fell to my death; instead of using spacebar.
Same as uglyduck here in sevtech only I didn't fall to my death.
Ok, this sounds weird, but I'm curious. What happens if you change this setting in the Forge.cfg file: Change this to false Enable forge to queue all chunk updates to the Chunk Update thread. May increase FPS significantly, but may also cause weird rendering lag. Not recommended for computers without a significant number of cores available. B:alwaysSetupTerrainOffThread=true

Just to be clear it happend in SevTech 3.0.7 which runs mc 1.12.2, not 1.10.2 as the title might suggest (new issue?). Don't know the exact version for Galacticraft can't look at it from work. I have not tested Galacticraft on its own.
Managed to do it multiple times by just sneaking anytime before hitting the ground. You fall (and survive if not too high) then the balloon becomes non responsive. I tried all sorts of clicks in survival and creative even tried to get rid of it with TNT.
The fixes suggested by @radfast should be sufficient. And maybe a message instead of press space to slow down that says 'Dont Panic 👍 (you bounce)'.

This is not a default setting, it's been changed by the modpack author, and as the warning for that setting states, it can cause issues on some machines. And since one (or more) of the dev's believes this to be a desync issue... I mean really!? Your a developer and you can't see this as a possible contributing issue when it changes the way the world loads!!??
I had the same Issue playing Sevtech modpack v3.0.8 on MC 1.12.2 Pressed shift to exit landing balloons before they had finished the landing animation, and now cannot access the inventory of the balloons. I have not attempted to destroy the balloons, for fear of losing the items I had stored in the rocket's inventory. @TheQuadShot you have stated that the rocket and landing pad drop upon breaking the balloons. Does the rocket's inventory drop as well? Or if you put the rocket on a launch pad is it's inventory accessible? Or will items in the rocket's inventory be deleted?
I tried the suggestion made by @TheQuadShot of changing the one setting in the forge config. It did not allow me to access the balloon lander inventory.
The setting I mentioned would "only" have an impact when the world is loading. I don't know about the inventory of the rocket since I din't test that. However I'm assuming that they would drop as well, or stay in the storage units of the rocket until you retrieve them.
@TheQuadShot I just tried breaking the balloons. The entire inventory of the rocket popped out when I destroyed it successfully. I used a sword to break it, idk if a sword is required to break galacticraft landers, but it took one sword swing to break where hitting it with an empty hand did nothing.

Given the suggestion that they might have pressed shift to exit the lander before it finished bouncing they think that is what they did. Now the balloons cannot be broken or have their inventory accessed.
Thanks for the update @jaz000 - it's good to have an explanation for how this might be happening even in the 1.12.2 version.
This has happened to me too, playing on a server on the Dungeons, Dragons, and Space Shuttles modpack. I can't right click on my landing balloon, I can't destroy my landing balloon either, have tried disconnecting and reconnecting to no avail.

Any fix? Still getting the bug. Stranded on mars.
