Consolidate navigation guidance from styles and patterns
Description
Consolidate the navigation guidance currently in Styles > Templates and Patterns > Navigation patterns, by moving all guidance to Patterns > Navigation patterns.
The navigation patterns section should have the following layout:
Overview
As it is now
Top navigation layout
Split into guidance and code tabs. Guidance: use guidance currently in Styles > Templates > Top navigation Code: examples currently in Patterns > Top navigation layout
Side navigation layout
Split into guidance and code tabs Guidance: use guidance currently in Styles > Templates > Side navigation Code: examples currently in Patterns > Side navigation layout
Secondary navigation
Guidance only. Use guidance currently in Styles > Templates > Secondary navigation. Add links to relevant components
Acceptance criteria
- Styles > Templates removed
- Patterns > Navigation patterns updated as described above
- Each pattern links to relevant components
- All relevant components have a link to relevant patterns (including from Components > Code)
Why do we need it?
It can be difficult to find all the available information on different types of navigation. Consolidating it into patterns with guidance and code examples will make this easier.
Many developers don't realise patterns with code examples are available. Linking to them from relevant component > code sections will help with this.
