Docs error: Mac Intel system requirements

Open julianclem opened this issue 6 months ago • 4 comments

The Coapp download page claims the Coapp is for "MacOS 10.13 and above" on Intel. This is now incorrect. Since 2.0.1, it requires Mac OS 10.15 and above. Attempting to run any Coapp 2.x on Mac OS 10.13 results in the following error:

dyld: lazy symbol binding failed: Symbol not found: ____chkstk_darwin
Referenced from: /Applications/net.downloadhelper.coapp.app/Contents/MacOS/vdhcoapp (which was built for Mac OS X 10.15)
  Expected in: /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib

Abort trap: 6

I found this by following the prompt in Chrome helper 8.1.1.0 to update the CoApp, only to find it was no longer working. I had to download and re-install the latest 1.x version from github.

Oh thanks! I'll look at this asap. I think there's a way to make it work for older version of osx.

Any news about that? As seen VDH has automatically updated over night and now it doesn't work anymore under my MacOS 14. VDH doesn't work with Browser as Download processor either.

I've purchased the license yesterday ( You're welcome :-) ) Btw, Downloader Helper was updated to 8.1.4.0 and it forces me to update Coapp

You are running the companion application version 1.6.3 but this feature requires version 2.0.9

Unfortunately, my Mac is 10.13.x (I'm stuck for some reason) so I can't upgrade it

Can you kindly let us know when the fix will come?

Or is there way we can downgrade Downloader Helper plugin? (My browser is Firefox)

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/versions/

I could downgrade the extension to the previous version from the page above. (And disabled automatic update for the extension as a temporary measure)
