Add the possiblity to set a higher value than 1 for the brightness.
With randr that is possible. It's useful, sometime for dark videos, or to compensate a darker look because of a high red tone in the color temperature.
thanks for the suggestion. I need to have a closer look at the possible values here.
What are the Gamma values you see using xrandr --verbose for this display?
Gamma: 1.0:1.0:1.1
My output is:
Gamma: 1.0:1.0:1.0
@mgudemann Hi again.
I don't know if you are working on this issue or on your sct fork in general, but I just want to notice you, that in Devuan 12 and Debian 12 there exists now a package called xsct and it can do the things i asked for in this issue.
Here are some links: https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/xsct https://github.com/faf0/sct
Best Regards hacksenwerk
@hacksenwerk thanks for the info, I had not seen xsct before.
I had quickly tried simply scaling brightness further but got strange colors as result. I will see whether this can be integrated in a similar way to xsct here.
@hacksenwerk I checked https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/xsct but this is also using [0.0,1.0] for the possible values of the brightness setting.
Maybe I misunderstood you issue, but didn't you want the possibility to set it to something >1.0 ?
@mgudemann Hi. I'm sorry, yes that was my mistake. I was to tired I guess...
I thought I wrote about lower values, that was the mistake. Didn't read my own headline before posting.
So the current minimum is 0.1, would simply allowing 0.0 be what you would like to have? That would be very easy to do
:) No I wanted a higher brightness value than 1, because there was some youtuber I watched and he had often videos with very low brightness. But I don't care any more, feel free to close this issue. ;)
