I have overrides for menu structure in ~/.config/menu/gnome-applications.menu alacarte shows menu structure respecting it. However budgie menu totally ignores it

They are bad. For most of sane users it’s impossible to understand what is going on in UI when something like this shows up

It’s a very trippy effect. Makes it unusable for a non trippy user.

Software and its documentation need to support it though. ;)
