author-in-text citation is great feature, how could it be export to docx

The newer version of pandoc reference list has a much-needed feature: [@author] -> (author, year) @author -> author(year) which is same to the Zettlr, that is really cool.

Here is the question (though not sure this is the right place to raise the issue):

I tried to use pandoc to convert the document to docx, and found that only [@author] style references were correctly converted to refreshable word fields, and @author style references were left untouched like plain text.

Is that a fixe for this issue?

Thanks a lot.

Hmm, what citation style are you using when exporting with pandoc?

  1. Pandoc Reference List doesn't affect your Pandoc exports, so yeah, probably not the right place for this issue.
  2. Narrative citations (without square brackets) should definitely be supported by Pandoc when going from markdown to docx.

I tried to use pandoc to convert the document to docx, and found that only [https://github.com/author] style references were correctly converted to refreshable word fields, and https://github.com/author style references were left untouched like plain text.

Did you use this Pandoc filter to get refreshable / live citations in Word? If not, can you share the Pandoc command you used? And I recommend giving that filter a try. I wrote some more in-depth instructions on that here: https://forum.obsidian.md/t/exporting-with-citations/75428/5#live-citations-in-word-1
