If you can find gopro sj5000x as standard webcam, then you should be able to use the plugin. But just curious? are you using that gopro on skype?

@ItsRobin5 Can you name some apps which works, please? How is the camera detected by the system? Maybe you can attach a screenshot of your device list :)

Not sure how I could test it. I don't have a similar camera :-/ I use Qt5 to detect camera devices, what makes it a general problem with the framework. I hope that it will fix itself with a new Qt version.
