When the battery is being drained you can reach a point where there is insufficient power to run things (especially, WiFi). The LDO will ultimately stop. What can happen then...
If you somehow manage to connect a lipo with reverse polarity, it will smoke the mosfet Q1. The board could be improved by adding some protection cicuitry for this scenario.
