Development state of mangal

Open amonull opened this issue 11 months ago • 2 comments

Since mangal hasnt had any new commits to it for 2 years and currently has some stale prs and stale open issues but also has some stale branches mainly the branch v5 which i assume was supposed to be the new version of mangal, i just wanted some clarification on if this project has been abandoned, moved somewhere else, or if development just slowed down. Also if anyone knows of a currently maintained fork of mangal that would be good to know as well.

Hi!

You are right, Mangal did not receive any updates in 2 years, which could be defined as abandoned. Sadly, I have lost interest in this project, since I don’t read manga anymore (nor watch anime) and moved my free time to other personal projects. I think putting this repo in archive would be the right thing to do, though it feels sad to do for some reason, that’s why I didn’t do it yet 😅

I am grateful for the community Mangal gathered. Thank you! You can see all the forks here https://github.com/metafates/mangal/forks

BTW, it is MIT licensed, so modifications are welcome!

Ah well thats more than fair enough if you no longer have passion for this project then you shouldnt feel obligated to maintain it or be forced to maintain it, all thats left is to say thank you for making a great application that still works to this day and i use to read various mangas. I Do think putting the repo on archive would be right decision just so everyone looking into the project knows whats going on and in hopes that itll motivate someone else to pick this project up.

And my question to the community still stands, if anyone knows of any forks of this project thats being maintained or wants to fork off and undertake that task themselves i would love to hear about it and im sure others checking in on this issue would as well.

Again thank you to all the devs that have worked on and maintained this project.
