Markdown in toots are stripped and not rendered

Markdown ignored When viewing toots with markdown, markdown elements are ignored.

To Reproduce

1. Write a toot with markdown, like this one
2. See the rendering in the MetaText client and notice the markdown elements are stripped.
3. See the rendering in the standard web client and notice the markdown elements are rendered.

Expected behavior MetaText should not remove markdown entirely. It should at least show the asterisks and such for emphasis, and rely on the human reader to parse the meaning in their heads. That’s the wonder of markdown.

Additional context Stripping markdown elements removes some semantic intent from toots. The app should either make the rendering effort, or leave it alone. Stripping entirely isn’t ideal.
