Repository Maintaining

Open andreaspeters opened this issue 3 years ago • 9 comments

Hi,

since you stop to support and develop DC/OS, is there any chance to maintain mesos-dns officially? I'm using it in a lot of mesos installations and it's a really nice piece of software. :-) It would be my pleasure to help others fix there issues.

My companies repository is https://github.com/AVENTER-UG and as u can see, we have a lot of other mesos projects. :-)

Kind Regards, Andreas

@jkoelker can we have a discussion on this?

@ja8zyjits Sure, but I'm not in control of this repo unfortunately. If there is consensus of where to migrate the repo to, I can approach some of my former colleagues and see if we can get it moved. I see that @andreaspeters already has a few fixes would the proposal be to turn it over to to the https://github.com/AVENTER-UG org?

@jkoelker IMHO the proposal would be to add more maintainers to this project and recognizing them in the readme or something like that. I am not sure about turning it over.

@ja8zyjits IIRC having external admins isn't possible with the org maintenance system/structure in use. I believe any proposal would need to be to a new org.

Edit: clarified external admins vs external contributors

Maybe a new org would be a good idea. Because, I'm also interesting in "take care" your marathon-lb. :-) Of course, from my point of view it would also be fine if you "just" link to my github repository. But I think this should not be the preferred way.

@jkoelker if it is fine with team Mesosphere in changing ownership, then as a user of this tool the developers will be really happy to see this wonderful project being maintained going forward. What could be the possible logical step ahead?

@ja8zyjits I'll email the people I know that are still involved and point them to this convo.

any news?

Since I did not get feedback, I'm still maintaining the mesos-dns fork. So, if someone is interesting to use it and/or to help (https://github.com/AVENTER-UG/mesos-dns) I would be happy. :-)
