Description
Devices encounters boot loop after a while for some reason. Hardware power off or reset button does not help. The only solution is to attach an laptop with usb cable. the next reboot (in loop or after reset), the devices is booting correctly. (No program or software has run on the pc, only attaching the cable.)
Relevant log output
Just a random usb data connection is enough to boot normal. Just tested on car radio usb connection and it booted immediately.
I am also seeing this behavior on 2.6.11 on two T-Deck Plus devices. They were stable when connected to USB power for more than 24 hours but I saw this green screen boot loop happen within 90 minutes of disconnecting from USB power source. Same experience with the reset button not helping. Connecting to Macbook with USBC fixed the boot loop.
Just re-flasht version 2.6.10. That version doesn't have this behavior and is stable during reboots.
Are you able to fill out "Relevant log output" when the error occurs first time (not the boot loop)?
This seems like perhaps the device was flashed with a different partition scheme previously and a full erase and install would likely resolve the issue. All of my T-Decks with MUI installed have updated from 2.6.4 without issue
My T-Deck Plus had the boot loop problem when attempting to use firmware v2.6.11 with MUI so I had to reinstall v.2.6.10. I just installed v2.7.0 using a full flash and erase and it's working fine... no boot loop.
Happened to me on 2.6.11 after pressing reboot button by mistake. Turning off, plugging power cable and turning on "fixed" it
FWIW, I am currently experiencing something similar. My T-Deck Plus is on 2.6.11.60ec05e, which was its first install of Meshtastic (with a wipe), as I only got the device a few weeks ago. Since I got it, it has spent most of its time plugged in to a USB hub on my desk to receive power while I experimented with it off and on. I brought it with me on a trip this week, and when I powered it on at the destination, it did the green screen boot loop thing. I clicked the physical reset button on the side of the unit, and it booted successfully, but it was showing nodes from back home that couldn't possibly be online, so I rebooted it again. After that, it started boot looping and no matter how often I reset it, it wouldn't come up.
I found this thread, and the suggestion to plug it in to a computer via USB-C, and after I did that, it came back up on the next boot. However, it didn't have a config. The ID and region weren't set, the channels I had configured weren't there, etc. I left it off for a day, then decided I would try to see if using the web client would do anything. I booted it up with it connected to my computer again, and it came up with a config this time, and reachable from the web client, but the graphics on the screen are all distorted.
My assumption is that it has experienced some sort of file system corruption, but I don't know how that happened. I understand that reinstalling Meshtastic with a full wipe will likely get rid of the issue (at least for now), but I'll leave the device in this state in case there is anything I can try to pull from it to help diagnose how this is happening. Let me know.
Got the same issue on T-Deck plus v2.6.11. Sometimes only green screen on booting and nothing else... The only way around is to plug to some USB to boot, then work until next reboot without usb..
