That doesn't sound right. The accesstoken should use the token which includes the original client id. Can you add a Get-MgContext and try seeing what it shows? Something like this...

This is most probably due to missing scopes in the token. The readme.md has the list of scopes required for the export. In addition you don't need to use MSAL.PS...
