Request: Some kind of filter to prevent logging multiple points when you are stationary
Situation: My phone is at home (so am I, in case you were wondering). Obviously the GPS reception is not perfect. Distance filter is set to 25 meters because I like accurate tracking.
Over night, GPS logger will record 50 points all around my house, obviously caused by inaccurate readings.
Request: Is there some clever filter which can recognize that I am not actually moving but that this appearant movement is caused by GPS inaccuracy? Perhaps something can be done with a combination of these:
- analyzing the accuracy of GPS-readings
- notice that the accuracy-circle of a reading overlaps with a previous point;
- notice that two points are within each others circle-of-accuracy
- establish some kind of 'average' position using the last 3-5 points, and determining if the new GPS-reading actually indicates movement.
