I tried twice, I tried with the recommended script and I tried making my own, both failed to disable windows defender. What am I doing wrong?

Hello, can you provide your script? I assume that Windows Defender blocks changes in the registry and changes in the state of services.

I used the one in the git repo and I'm not sure where to find the one I exported from the tool as the OS i used to export it has been wiped. Still have the usb though

Hey there and sorry for the late reply,

Since the creation of this issue I have released a new version of the XML file and a major update to Winhance, I recommend that you watch this video which provides a full demo of the current version along with how to use the new version of WIMUtil and how to install the drivers etc. You now also have the ability to create an autounattend.xml file based on your selections in Winhance, so you have more control over which apps are removed and which settings are applied.

I have also created this video about v3.0.0 of UnattendedWinstall, I suggest that you watch it too if you're interested.

Windows Defender Services is not disabled in v3.0.0 anymore because it causes issues. As for the fact that it was not disabled upon installation, from my findings it was due to Windows Updates being installed during the OOBE phase, it repairs the service and enables Defender again.

If you really want to Disable Defender, I would advise you to search for a script on GitHub that does it and then just run that after Windows is installed.

I'm closing this issue now, but if you need more help with the same issue, feel free to reopen it.
