[Enhancement] Increase the limit to 100 players instead of 16
Hi, I noticed melonDS maximum player limit is set to 16, but the DS can actually do 100 players locally (Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 are likely the only games to actually support 100 players).
I am aware having such limit is overkill at this current state of melonDS considering netplay is possible only in LAN (I havent tested services such as Hamachi yet) but 100 player limit can allow one day people to connect and achieve the rare 30 people funfest and 1000 points medals in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. Hope this can be considered in the future, especially if one day melonDS gets proper netplay, allowing people to finally get these medals without going to conventions.
melonDS multiplayer was built around the regular local multiplayer protocol, which only supports 16 players.
those Pokémon games communicate without it: they just broadcast stuff in beacon frames. this is a massive headache in general -- it's possible to build a sync system around local multiplayer comm because the flow is very predictable (once a connection is established), but there's no real way to sync this thing properly. it's just players sending beacons into the void at different intervals.
certainly an interesting challenge, but, yeah...
That's really interesting to know! Wonder if it's also possible to limit cheats or save states (at least have the option in the room) but that's probably outside of the scope of this issue
