Use DS as a Controller

Open ghost opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Use DS as a controller with EZ Flash plugins Use DS controller with DS Pico (Not released) DS pico has DSI enhanced support if it has EZ flash plugin support If the DS does not have enough processing power a flash cart with extra processing support may help For DSi users they can connect with the twilight menu if it has enough processing power to do it For Nintendo DS users if possible connect to 2 WiFi networks and use a WiFi Adapter to bridge connections If the Nintendo DS and (or) Nintendo DSi can do it

I don't know seams out of scope like you could do that with vnc and other home brew

Also what is your use case? there may be a easyer option that you are missing.

Yeah what's the point if that ? Just use a GameCube controller and it's ok The real thing should be to implement a way to make a LAN game between melonDS and a real DS/DSi. THAT would be pretty cool even though I know it would need a patch on the DS-side of things...

This request is if you want to use a DS(i) as a controller. The Nintendo DS(i) it can just send the data back and forth of the rom and save data information while the emulator can be the one running the game, there is a commit in twilight menu bootstrap which sends the Nintendo Ds cartridge back and forth between rom’s. This can be committed to emulate with melon Ds and its features. The Nintendo Dsi’s or the 3DS’s has extra power with hardware specs in twilight menu if it can broadcast the game when it runs in the emulator and if it can run on the screen. These consoles have access to WEP network and Ds(i) mode. The broadcasting server #2153 can be the software that sends information, and the Ds(i) controller implemented.

I perfectly know what's the object of the suggestion. There's only 4 problems :

  • What are you going to do with the screens, especially the top one ?
  • If you ever need a flashcart because of a lack of computing power, it means buying one, and this defeats the whole purpose of using an emulator for many of us.
  • Even if there is enough power, the input lag is going to be sh*t because it would be running over WiFi with a slow device, with a lot of data throughput if you've thought of streaming the screens on the DS. Again, a wired or at most Bluetooth controller is better.
  • As for saving on the DS, it is not a bad idea as it would have the same purposes as saving a Mii on a Wiimote, but where are you going to save the file ? In the NAND ? In the SD card ? In a cartridge ?

screens on the Nintendo DS(i) and 3DS is if the systems have computing power with the system that has the computing power with (or) the flashcard with the Nintendo DS(i) and 3DS capability’s . This console is used as a controller for melon DS. Save data is saved from the rom location that it is played from.

Well I guess if you have the know-how then do it, but without any other feature than pressing buttons wirelessly, it is basically going to be useless in my opinion. Good luck with the DS cartridge to design ! (Unless you make it a DSiWare and thus exclude the DS/DS Lite)
