MelonDS reverting wifi settings on every reset

Open chillycontro opened this issue 3 years ago • 7 comments

hello, i'm trying to set up melonds for the internet (setting connection to melonap), but every time i reset or otherwise shutdown the emulation, it goes back to the bios' wifi configuration, is there any option to disable this anywhere, do i need help, or is this intentional? using windows 10 home, 64-bit + using the boot firmware option to boot into dsi mode if this helps any

I've been having the same issue on Pokemon Platinum.

Specifically, I followed the tutorial in the melonDS forums - https://melonds.kuribo64.net/board/thread.php?id=285 - to connect to Kaeru WFC. This is basically just manually entering the DNS into the game's WFC settings, as opposed to the default "auto-obtain." However, after resetting the emulator, I've found that the system reverts that setting to "auto-obtain." I've been using the melonap connection point, as specified in the tutorial.

It's not impossible to get around, you just have to remember to change that setting every time you start up melonDS, but it is very inconvenient.

well either we add the ability to save and load the generated firmware (instead of regenerating it every time) or the add options so that the wifi settings of the generated firmware can be changed (similar to how it's currently done with the mac address). I think the latter is probably smarter. Most options could also just be hardcoded to melonAP.

Are there any more permanent workarounds we can use with the current release, besides changing the settings every time we boot?

use an external firmware and don't enable firmware settings overriding

I have fixed this problem actually -- the fix will come in release 0.9.5
