Drawn To Life: Freeze near the very end of the Gearworks Level
I'm currently playing the game for a review and I've encountered an issue where at the very end of Level 2-3: Gearworks. Where you go down a zipline section (Image below), the game suddenly freezes for some reason. Tried manipulating all sorts of relevent settings like changing from OpenGL to Software Renderer, Internal resolution tweaking, Enabling improved polygon splitting, Enabling JIT recompiler, etc. Though it always keeps crashing at the area. Hopefully this can get fixed as soon as possible.
That's odd, I didn't have any issues playing through the game a couple months back. Maybe try using an older version of MelonDS for that section? Savegames should work cross-version I'm pretty sure, but savestates won't.
Could it be a problem related to ARM PU exceptions introduced in 0.9.4? Try with version 0.9.3
That's interesting! Do you have a savefile (not savestate) where I can quickly get to the problematic part?
I had managed to get around this issue by importing the save file to another emulator the day after I posted the issue, I went back to the level after finishing the game to potentially recreate it and put it in a save state, but the freeze didn't happen. I think it has something to do with the page that's at the end of the level.
How long does it take for an inexperienced player to get to this part?
I can imagine about 2 hours if you're starting from a new save. but I discovered a save file I imported to the other emulator, gonna go revisit it and see if the freeze happens.

If you zip compress your save file (7zip), then you can post it, since Github supports .zip files. Either that or make a shared link to a google drive folder with the file.
any chance you have separate savefiles enabled?
DTL Save.zip Heres the save file, forest gate is to the right of the sheriffs office. and I had seperate savefiles enabled, what about it.
It's known to cause various issues.
