3.1.0 artefacts, and request
I noticed two artefacts running the recently released (production version) 3.1.0
Request: please mark it clearly, in the filename, or by leaving disk_x_xx as before and creating something like a jaggingfixed_disk_x_xx which files went through steps beyond the reconstruction and basic geometry, to be able to select output files accordingly.
Left: the 3.0.x version, Right: the 3.1.x version
- Banding artefact on disk_0_00, with no jagging correction
- Jagging correction (default sigma) fixes some, but also introduces some artefacts, notice the exacerbated mushroom cap at 2 o'clock
Thank you
PS: this is a rather big change, as it seems to also affect ImageMath which I use to create cubes.
Jagging correction requires complex manipulations which are done at a very specific step: after recontruction, after banding correction, and before any rotation. Therefore it's a change which implies the whole processing pipeline: it's not something which can be done at any time like any other functions available in scripts.
You can try to lower the sigma value to reduce artifacts. Also do not hesitate to share links to scans, so that I can see what can be done, thank you!
With only banding turned on, no anti-jagging, and a very decent disk_25_0 from the CaH line (aka H epsilon)
the raw video is here (will take at least a few good minutes to upload, now it is 10:33 zulu, ETA 10:50 z):

Now, the issue is: the same artefact shows up when I call img(25) -- which is supposed to be as close to the raw counts as possible, without fix_banding. This behavior is new, and I think it is undesired.
The opposite pole has the same artefact
hint: downloading the .filepart not only doesn't help, but also slows down my upload, as the RPi's bandwidth is a mere 10 MB/s, and now that's split in half.
:)
Ah thought that was a mistake in the name :) Also just wanted to check because it may already be fixed in the dev version.
:) it should be up now
As far as I can tell the issue is gone with 3.1.1-SNAPSHOT:
(that sunspot is just HUUUGE)
it definitely looks better in 3.1.1, I can live with this
