⚠️ Looking for maintainers

Open jsamr opened this issue 1 year ago • 14 comments

Despite how much I have enjoyed working on this project, I don't have the bandwidth to maintain this package anymore. If you are interested in maintaining this library, please post a comment with:

  1. A small bio to describe your experience with React Native and knowledge of the web standards;
  2. A rough time commitment estimate (e.g. 2 hours/week).
  3. Makes sure you have read and are comfortable with our MAINTAINING and CONTRIBUTING guides.

You should also be familiar with

  • Advanced git usage (interactive rebases, ...etc);
  • yarn berry (aka v2+).

Thank you!

  1. My experience with React Native is very little, though I have years of experience with React. I also don't have experience maintaining Open Source packages, so this would be my first and a learning experience for me. I am fairly familiar with web standards, particularly in recent years I've become much more familiar with accessibility standards. However, I'm always looking to learn more!
  2. I could commit 4 hours/week to maintaining this project, though I'd be willing to do up to 8 hours/week initially to learn the ropes and catch up on some of the outstanding issues/pull requests.

@6TELOIV Thanks! I added in the OP additional requirements; let me know if that fits you!

Hmm, based on the full criteria it might be a little much for me to dive right into be fully responsible for. I'll look to contribute if a new maintainer is found, and then after learning the ropes I could possibly hop on as another maintainer.

Hey @jsamr,

  1. I have 6 years of experience with React Native and have worked on various packages like react-native-mmkv, react-native-screens, and react-native-keychain. Currently, I'm a maintainer of the serverless-offline and react-native-keychain.
  2. I’d be happy to help. My company is likely to start using this package soon, so I'll have many opportunities to improve it. However, it's difficult to specify a fixed time commitment, and I prefer not to. Open source is something I truly enjoy, and I don't see it as a formal obligation :)

You can send me mail if you want to talk - [email protected]

I'd be happy to help out with issue triage and similar tasks. I'm pretty new to the React Native ecosystem, but well familiar with Open-Source work in general.

Appreciate all the candidacies! I will sync with Doran tomorrow to align; and start working on the "role management" side of things and make a plan to get back towards more frequent releases. @qwertychouskie @6TELOIV I'll get back to you soon.

Hey @jsamr, we're a team RN developers based from Berlin. We're frequent users of your library and we are experienced in the maintenance of (internal) libraries. Let me know if you still need support.

  1. Mostly a react web developer, but built several react native apps over the past 5 years for various clients. Used react native render html on a recent project and motivated to fix an issue with it.
  2. A few hours semiweekly.
  3. I read and am comfortable with the MAINTAINING and CONTRIBUTING guides.

@jsamr Has there been any progress? We are all eagerly awaiting the new release.

Hi @jsamr I've been working with this library for a while, and I think I know its internals quite well, as I had to implement HTML rendering with react-native in couple of my projects, one of which required things like getting it to work with margin collapsing and nativewind. If you don't mind, I can take over maintaining it I want to open a branch for version upgrades, since those are greatly outdated, and I would like to propose some improvements to it

@jsamr I also added a comment to https://github.com/meliorence/react-native-render-html/pull/672, which seems to be blocking further releases - as the CI has been down for a while. I can take it over as well if needed

@5ZYSZ3K See https://github.com/meliorence/react-native-render-html/issues/674; would love some help in the migration here. I have very little availability these days unfortunately, but we could sync in Discord around next steps.

jsamr avatar Apr 25 '25 13:04 jsamr

@jsamr Got it, then I'll start with #674

5ZYSZ3K avatar Apr 25 '25 13:04 5ZYSZ3K

@jsamr please is there any update on this package yet? We are eagerly waiting for an update please.
