How to set preserve_interword_spaces

Hey! I am fairly new to tesseract so please excuse my lack of knowledge, but I am trying to implement a feature as seen here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22609778/how-to-preserve-document-structure-in-tesseract

I can't seem to figure out how to configure options for ruby-tesseract-ocr.
