@DominikStr, looking at your prototype, some thoughts came up.. - we should think about whether it might be possible to catch all useful scenarios in just two modes of operation....

`REFINE_DIST_RADIAN_TOL` is gone now in master in favor of `taup._DEFAULT_VALUES` which is a dictionary and I believe its contents can be adjusted at runtime to modify these accuracy/speed tradeoff things,...
