Website Account Storage in Local Database Stuck in Infinite Loop

Open itayasaf2001xd opened this issue 5 months ago • 2 comments

Issue Description:
When trying to open the MEGA website, I notice an endlessly spinning icon at the top that says "Storing account in the local database." This process never completes, as shown in the image below. While the spinner is active, navigating the website results in glitches, such as missing files and other weird bugs.

Moreover, it has been spinning for over 3 hours now. My MEGA account contains approximately 12TB of data out of a 20TB quota, with around 3.5 million files stored.

The spinning icon reappears intermittently. For example, when I close the website and try to reopen it, I still see the icon. Sometimes, even after several hours, it continues spinning and may take days to resolve, only to reappear later.

System Information:

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro (latest stable version)
  • RAM: 32GB
  • CPU: Intel Core i9
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti
  • Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB SSD (500GB free)
  • Browser: Microsoft Edge (latest version)
  • Extensions: Mega (installed from Edge Add-ons Store)

Additional Notes:

  • No cache was cleared
  • No third-party tools

I've been dealing with this issue for over a month and tried several suggested fixes from the Mega support team, but nothing worked except for this one solution. If you're facing the same problem, try the following steps:

In Chrome:

  1. Update your browser to the latest version by navigating to chrome://help/
  2. Clear your cache for https://mega.nz/ by navigating to chrome://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fmega.nz%2F and clicking "Delete data"
  3. Then navigate to chrome://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fmega.io and click "Clear data" again.
  4. After all the steps mentioned above, navigate to chrome://restart in the Address bar. Your browser will automatically close and restart.

In Firefox:

  1. Update your browser to the latest version: Go to the three horizontal lines button - Help - About Firefox
  2. Clear your cache for https://mega.nz/ doing the following:
  • Navigate to about:preferences#privacy
  • Go to Cookies and Site Data - Manage Data…
  • Search for mega.nz and select it
  • Choose "Remove Selected"
  • Choose "Save Changes" then Remove
  1. Navigate to about:profiles in the Address bar and click on "Restart normally…". You will notice the browser shut down and restart.

Thanks, but that didn’t help. I’m still having the same problem it comes and goes. For example, for about a month MEGA was opening quickly and working smoothly with no issues, but today I’m seeing the spinning icon again. It’s been like this on and off for over two years now, and it’s still spinning.

@jx-mega Could you please read my reply to him and let me know if there’s anything else I can do?
