[Pakaging] Make MEGAsync available as flatpak on FlatHub
Hi. I would like to suggest on you to make MEGAsync available as flatpak package on FlatHub.
Flatpak is universal Linux package that support almost all Linux distros, thus providing flatpak version of MEGAsync will make MEGAsync available in secure reliable way for almost all Linux users.
Flatpak is sandbox by default & automatically updated in secure & convenient way.
- home page of FlatHub is: https://www.flathub.org/home
- FlatHub repositories are at: https://github.com/flathub
- when some one like to add package to FlatHub, she/he need to open PR at: https://github.com/flathub/flathub/pulls
- FlatHub differ from snap by being allow any one to package not only developers of packages. So packages on FlatHub are of 2 kinds regarding this point: some are packaged by their developers like RetroShare, while other are packaged by person other than their developers. So,
- developers of MEGA themselves can package their Linux desktop application by themselves. This will be ideal.
- all packages on FlatHub are signed .....
- even if person other than the original developer(s) maintain the package on FlatHub, FlatHub team try as much as possible to make developer(s) authorized to repositories at least to monitor & follow up the packaging ......
- FlatHub allow both open & closed source packages. But regarding open source packages, the FlatHub team insisting on packager to make them deterministic (reproducible).
:package: MEGAsync packaged on Flathub now https://flathub.org/apps/details/nz.mega.MEGAsync
@tim77 Thank you very much !
By the way, what about MEGAchat ? - see https://github.com/meganz/MEGAchat/issues/840
It will be more useful to add MEGAchat to FlatHub ......
This is still such an important feature +1
+1 if Mega is really FOSS-friendly, it must be installable via Flatpak. Especially for immutable distros like that of Ublue.
