MEGAcmd is way slower than MEGAsync

When downloading a large file using MEGAsync i get: While the speed fluctuates a little bit, its not too bad.

But using the webdav (or ftp for that matter) backend i get (using wget):

I cant explain this discrepancy. I am running Ubuntu 22.04 for reference
