[Question]Scanning Regular Bar Code

I am able to get regular QR code to scan without issue, using my webcam and iphone on the demo site:

However, no matter what I do, regular barcodes on product packages and books do not scan. My understanding is that by default it should be able to scan all type of barcodes. What am I missing?
