The "Link" format feauter is not able to interpret e-mail adresses. It should be.

Beside of that: When I create a mailto-link manualy and double click on that it is not able to open the mail-client. It ask for the webbrowser.

Maybe you should give the URL/URI just to the operating system, what will know which application is the best for the given URI. You don't need to handle all the applications yourself.
