feature request: encoder switch
Hi there, firstly -- thank you for making this utility, it's an absolute godsend!
I was wondering if it would be possible/feasible to add as an update at some point the ability to toggle the encoder option. What I've noticed on my rig is that certain applications (namely overlays; such as the snipping tool in windows, or steam's overlay -- as well as a few gaming titles ) cause sound issues: Crackling/distortions until the output is toggled between speakers and headphones, and additionally changing/toggling the encoder option between Dolby and DTS.
Currently the listen option does not pick up on this change, and I'm unsure if the encoder change is accessible via the same methods as the output state,. but it would be an incredibly helpful ability :)
Cheers!
On my system I see there are properties for both DTS and DDL being enabled, but even when I select one the property comes back as false. I can set them to true and read them back as true, but the change isn't reflected in Creative's UI. I don't know how it's supposed to work. I don't have a digital audio decoder connected.
Ahhhh, thank you kindly for the reply -- was worth a shot i suppose =P And I think I speak for just about every SB customer out there -- thank you again for the work on the application, it's a shame it takes a third party to implement such obvious features.
Cheers!

Does Restart-Service 'Creative Audio Service'
fix it?
Oh, simply toggling between DTS and Dolby 'fixes' it, but I was hoping for something I could do without having to alt tab out of whatever app/game is running in full screen. I'll give bouncing the service a try, but my suspicion is that restarting the service would cause games to crash or completely lose focus.
It's a bit wonky, but at the moment i'm using an app called 'display fusion' that has hooks for hotkey combinations. I'm using these hotkeys (via either keyboord or steam controller chord) to call a vbs script which then runs sbz-switch in the background with the option for switching between speakers and headphones. My hope was to include a hook in this process for toggling the decoder.

Isn't that more a driver bug than anything else? Did you file a bug report with Creative?
You may also want to try setting the priority of the CTAudSvc
process.
