I know this is a pretty large task, but, if this thing could do networking, it could be a lot more powerful

Networking is part of the roadmap, but it is at the very far end. It's unclear how it will be implemented, that is, whether it will be out of the box ready or a library that someone adds on.

We'll know what that would look like more closely as this projects develops.

Not to mention how bare bones it is at the moment.
