Is there anyway to view the camera?

I'm not sure at which version or if this was not intended, but I used to be able to see my camera when using zbarcam (and zbarcam-qt and zbarcam-gtk) and now all I get is a bar-code like image on top of it. Also, if I move the window it messes up my window manager big time (I'm running dwm) and it takes a while for windows to recover and it starts messing up colors.

• specifically, I can barely see my camera when using zbarcam
• when using zbarcam-qt I can see it if I start clicking on 'hide/show controls'.
• And in zbarcam-gtk I cannot see my picture at all not matter if I disable or enable it.

** when moving any of the windows in dwm I get a blue background and sometimes my statusbar and/or other windows get messed up too. **
