Honestly this is probably unnecessarily complicated to maintain compatibility with nightly 6.99 releases, but hey, it's easy and done

Just saw this after sending a PR doing essentially the same thing, although mine should work for both Kicad 7 and the newly-released Kicad 8. PR: https://github.com/mcbridejc/kicad_component_layout/pull/11
