Maybe. I can see using indifferent access for retrieval, and always using one or the other (strings, probably, due to the GC issue) for properties created on the fly.

It's think it's actually great that this is getting in _before_ 1.0.0, because the tweaks to backward compatibility are OK at this point. Definitely less confusing than a quick-turnaround 1.0/2.0...
