Feature request: Getting position by clicking in video frame

Open fredrikfalkman opened this issue 8 years ago • 1 comments

This is a feature request for a way to get a position by clicking in a video frame. This position could then be used to set a Goto point which would mean that a plane could loiter around the point and if equipped with a gimbal keep pointing the camera toward that point.

Optionally it would be very useful if you could scrub the video stream to click a point earlier in the flight.

On a high level this might require the following:

  • A way to capture the X/Y location of a click in the video frame
  • A time stamp (T) on the video frame chosen
  • A precise knowledge about which way the camera points in relation to the plane at (T), wheater gimbaled or fixed. (And probably a way to calibrate this.)
  • The attitude and position of the plane at (T).
  • The elevation of the ground
  • And some nifty programming...

Some of this functionality can be seen in this C-astral video showing off the Lockheed Martin Perceptor Dual Sensor Gimbal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pefhTuoNN4
