Call for maintainers
Hello Community,
Are you a user of the Mautic Docker build and experienced in all things Mautic/Docker?
Would you be interested in stepping up as maintainer?
There is currently no active official maintainer team for this repository and it's becoming increasingly difficult for the core team to troubleshoot, keep the images up to date and ensure we're keeping up with best practice.
We want to see this repo being actively maintained and supported by the community. We know that there are many users who rely on our Docker images, and right now, we're not giving the best experience to them.
What we're looking for
We need committed individuals or teams who can breathe new life into this project.
As a maintainer, you would be responsible for:
- Reviewing and merging pull requests
- Addressing issues reported by users
- Planning and releasing new versions of the plugin in collaboration with the Mautic core team
- Working with the security team to address any vulnerabilities which might be reported
- Ensuring compatibility with the latest versions of Mautic
- Improving documentation and community engagement
Ideally you should have time in your working day supported by your employer to commit to maintaining the plugin, so that it's a little more sustainable than relying on your generosity of free time volunteering which isn't always easy to maintain in the longer term.
Why You Should Volunteer
Becoming a maintainer allows you to:
- Influence the direction of a tool used by a significant number of users
- Enhance your skills in Docker and Mautic as well as community engagement and open source in general
- Grow your reputation within the open source community
- Work with our awesome core team and security team, broadening your knowledge of Mautic's internal processes
- Collaborate with other talented developers
How to Express Interest
If you are interested in becoming a maintainer, please comment on this issue or send me a direct message via Mautic's Slack.
Please include:
- Any previous experience you have with open source projects (links to contributions if available)
- Any specific ideas you have for improving the Docker images
- How much time you can commit to maintaining Mautic's Docker builds
We are looking to make a decision by the end of the quarter and have a new team of maintainers in place, so please express your interest by then.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to help steer the future of the official Mautic/Docker builds. We look forward to potentially collaborating with you and seeing where we can take this project together!
Thanks!
Ruth Cheesley Mautic Project Lead
Hey Ruth!
I might be able to help you out. I have some experience with CI/CD, nginx (more than Apache), and docker security. Can't say I'm a pro in PHP, though... but I can learn!
Is the position still up?
Hi @cibero42 absolutely, we're still open for people to get involved. Can you hop into #docker on Slack and let's chat! Join us via https://mautic.org/slack if you're not there already.

Hi folks, just to share that I'm delighted we've got a small but mighty team of folks who've asked to step up and work together to take on the maintenance for the docker image going forward. They're going to start by working through existing issues and PRs and determining what's still relevant, closing things which are outdated and then coming up with a plan for developing the image going forward.
@cibero42 will be heading things up and supported initially by @IntrovertedFL, @IonutOjicaDE and @henmohr - we're still open to others who might want to join and get involved so please hop into #docker on Slack (https://mautic.org/slack) if that sounds like you!
