Yellow border around screen (remove yellow border option is grayed out) with dual screen setup

Open Tasosgemah opened this issue 9 months ago • 6 comments

I use a dual screen setup and i get this yellow border all the time.

The option "remove yellow border option" is grayed out

After a lot of testing i managed to make the border go away with this combination:

Extended screens + secondary screen selected as the main one.

This was the only way to make this work.

For Windows 11 the border should not be present by default, but if it still is try the steps from the FAQ https://github.com/mausimus/ShaderGlass/blob/master/FAQ.md#-i-see-yellow-border-around-captured-screenwindow

The "Remove yellow border" is always grayed out in the menu, it's just an indicator if SG attempted the removal, I should perhaps rename it.

Interesting point about dual screens, it works fine on my setup; not clear why this would affect yellow border removal but again, it's up to Windows to allow it, ShaderGlass can only request it.

I use Windows 10, not 11. Apologies for not mentioning.

I also use a Nvidia 3060 if that's relevant.

That is interesting since Windows 10 doesn't allow removal of the border; perhaps you've found some loophole in its enforcement of it.

So the border is normal? Does that mean this program is normally only intended for Windows 11?

perhaps you've found some loophole in its enforcement of it.

I really hope there is a way for the program to work on Windows 10 properly...

Unfortunately that is the situation on Windows 10 and it's beyond my control. On Windows 10 it's only possible to "avoid" the border by using Clone mode and covering the original window or moving it to another display.

I did managed to remove the border for a moment though by using the combination of settings mentioned in the OP. So yeah, maybe there is some hidden way to do this...

i found that if i put my windows 10 pc into hibernation mode and wake it up, while shaderglass is active and in fullscreen, it removes the yellow border. I use a single monitor setup
