Windows Mixed Reality for Steam Problem

Open gusphan opened this issue 6 years ago • 7 comments

Hi, I and several others are having a problem getting this to work. I see the Advanced Settings on SteamVR after installation, but when I click on it, nothing happens. Any thoughts?

Here's a link to the discussion on Windows Mixed Reality Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/WindowsMR/comments/8ct6s0/openvr_advanced_settings_problem/

Same issue here! Just a blank area after selecting Advanced Settings in SteamVR. It opens OK in desktop mode.

I can also confirm this bug with the Lenovo WMR headset. Advanced menu option is visible but does not appear when selected.

Same here. Trying to open the desktop version always results in "Another instance is already running" -- even after force quitting AdvancedSettings in task manager.

Just want to confirm that I am also having this issue with the Lenovo Explorer WMR headset. Tried uninstalling and re-installing everything (including steam) and I'm on a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro.

Just for anyone that's looking, in the link to the reddit discussion in the first post, someone mentioned that if you have an nvidia optimus laptop (i.e. you can switch back and forth between discreet and integrated graphics cards) then going to the nvidia control panel and adding the advancedsettings.exe program and setting that to your dedicated graphics card will solve this issue. Worked for me!

As matt-derrick says, the problem is integrated graphic card. Setting program to be rendered with accelerated card, all works right.

Thanks
