Opening advent calendar items on mobile require two clicks

I was a little confused about this initially but we have two different behaviours on mobile and desktop at https://htmhell.dev/adventcalendar/

Desktop

• Hovering over an unopened calendar item rotates it.
• Clicking the item opens the article.
• Also if you click the item two fast (before the rotation is over), then nothing happens.

Mobile

• Clicking an unopened calendar item rotates it.
• Clicking the item a second time opens the article.

I get that mobile, doesn't have a hover option so kinda understand why this is, but it still made me think the site was broken. Also since it can't be "unclicked" anyway, it seems a little pointless to swallow up the click by not going to the article.

I wonder if on click, the item should be rotated if not already rotated, and then the article automatically loaded (perhaps with a short timeout if the rotation animation has been applied). That would solve both the mobile two click issue, and the desktop "nothing happens on third bullet" issue.
